dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaWe recently took our third trip to the Dead Sea, this time to the Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa. We’re partial to IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) hotels because Kail has a ton of rewards points and we can either stay for “free” or we get upgraded to gigantic suites. This trip to the Crowne Plaza was no exception and, unlike our experience at the Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea, a raw sewage overflow did not force us to change rooms.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaSuite upgrade. We didn’t spend a lot of time in our suite but it was really nice, with a huge balcony overlooking the Dead Sea, an espresso machine and “free” (non-alcoholic) minibar, coffee and snacks. Also: It had great bath products from the famous Trinitae soap house on Rainbow Street.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spa, trinitaeWe were able to check in early (noon, as opposed to 3:00 p.m.) and check out late (5:00 p.m., as opposed to noon), so we had an extra-long time to enjoy the resort, including its nice gym and spa. We got one-hour massages, but the spa area also has indoor pools, a steam room and a sauna.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaWe had heard the Crowne Plaza has the best spa of all the Dead Sea resorts. We didn’t test out the spa at the Holiday Inn or the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea, where we took our friend Lisa when she was visiting in December. Our my goal is to visit all the five-star Dead Sea resorts and then pick our favorite as our go-to place.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaPrivate terrace overlooking the Dead Sea.Colleagues and friends have their favorites (usually the Kempinski or Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea). I haven’t written about the Kempinski yet but I wasn’t that impressed and it’s much more expensive. In terms of customer service, the Crowne Plaza has them beat. The grounds of the Kempinski are nicer as a whole, but (due to our upgrade) our suite in the Crowne Plaza was much better than our Kempinski room.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaThe Kempinski restaurants (Thai restaurant and breakfast buffet) are much better than what the Crowne Plaza or Holiday Inn have to offer, but food isn’t really the main draw to getting away for the weekend.dead sea, jordan, crowne plaza jordan dead sea resort & spaWe’ve only been visiting the resorts during low season, and we’ve heard that during high season they’re basically packed to the point of being unpleasant. The Holiday Inn has the best pool but in terms of privacy and lots of different locations to lounge away from crowds, the Kempinski is probably the best option of the three. We have several more resorts to go, but luckily we have three years and several months to check them out! What’s your favorite resort and/or spa?
