Salvadoran Weather

rainy season, estacion de las lluvias, el salvador weather, san salvador weather, raindrops, puddlesIn El Salvador, you never really need to check the weather. It’s warm-to-hot, always. From roughly November through April, it’s dry season. From May through October, rainy season.parque nacional el imposible, hiking, camping, el salvador, el salvador national parkYou kind of know it’s going to rain this time of year, even if you’re going camping.Sure, sometimes I pack an emergency cardigan or pashmina but I pretty much know what I’m in for, weather-wise, once I step outside the house in the morning. These days I’ve taken to keeping an umbrella in my purse at all times.san salvador skyline, san salvador rainy season, el salvador rainy season, afternoon thunderstormThere’s always period of sun, even during the rainy season, but there’s a lot of clouds too.So when I went to Washington, DC in April, I was woefully underprepared. I had forgotten what spring in DC really means. Or any transitional season in DC for that matter: snowing one week, hot and humid the next, interspersed with random days of perfect, sunny, not-too-hot-not-too-cold capitol, washington, dcClear and sunny, but check out those bare trees.I brought one lightweight jacket but not enough layers to withstand the day-to-night transition. I packed tons of running clothes that I didn’t use but not enough non-workout casual clothing. As I prepare for another trip to Washington — this time in the spring-to-summer transition period — I’m wondering what to pack. It will be easier this time since I’m only going for work (as opposed to a road race, a wedding in which I was a bridesmaid, my own wedding anniversary and work) and for a shorter amount of time. But still. I have to leave room in my suitcases for all the bourbon products you can’t buy in El Salvador or online. In the meantime, we’ve been enjoying “rainy season” in El Salvador with beach days like the one below.rainy season el salvador, el salvador beach, costa del sol, joya del pacificoWhat are your international travel/business trip packing tips?

  1. It is currently HOT in DC. Mid 80s and humid. So think summer, not mid-spring summer. But who knows maybe El Salvador has messed with your brain on what really is hot 🙂 It has been rainy here as well.
